Hey Jude, don’t make it … what?
Most Beatles super-fans would never forget the lyrics to a Beatles song. So it might surprise you to find out that THE Beatle sometimes would!
Paul McCartney admits he sometimes forgets the lyrics to some of his classic songs when performing live. “I’ll be doing a song, let’s say ‘Eleanor Rigby’ or something, and I’m on autopilot,” he says. “I’m starting to think, ‘Oh, what am I going to have for dinner later? Maybe you won’t have the soup but maybe you’ll just go for the main course.’ And I go, ‘STOP!’ Because I’m singing ‘Eleanor Rigby.'” He now uses a teleprompter when he performs!
And lyrics aren’t the only thing that have slipped out of McCartney‘s mind in recent years, he says. “I’m the world’s worst rememberer of Beatles’ history,” he reveals. “I just think, ‘Well there’s always going to be someone who knows. So, I’ll just ask someone!'”
I love that story! Makes me not feel so bad about walking into the kitchen then forgetting about why I went there. Maybe I need a teleprompter.
