I’m Going to be a Special Guest…at a Fashion Show!?
Kinda seems like the set-up to a really funny joke, but the rumors you’ve heard are true.
I, hoodie-and-jeans wearing, ballcap-sporting dad/host of the midday show, will be a special guest emcee at a fashion show in downtown Naperville this weekend.
I know…I still find it kind of hard to believe myself! I’m pretty sure my name and “fashion” has never even been used in the same sentence, but here we are! My idea of dressing up is putting on a darker shade of blue jeans and a button down.
Here’s my saving grace, though. The charitable people at Deans Clothing in downtown Naperville didn’t want me going to this thing looking like a degen (noun. /DEE-jen/; short for degenerate), so they have taken on the task of curating a “look” for me. To be honest, I’ve never worn anything that could be considered a “look” before, so I’m very much looking forward to seeing what they come up with!
I wonder if they thought they reached out to Nick Jonas instead of Nick Jakusz. Oh well…no one tell ’em!
The Downtown Naperville Breakfast and Fashion Show is hosted by the Branch Moms Community, the Downtown Naperville Alliance, and ELLE Services. The show will be Saturday morning from 9 to 11 at Empire Burgers and Brew. Breakfast and coffee will be served, everyone in attendance gets a VIP card to be used for discounts at various Downtown Naperville stores, and tons of gift card giveaways (that’s where I come in. I’m on the radio, so I’m experienced at giving out free stuff!).
Models will be showing off some great fashions (did I use that right?!) just in time for Mother’s Day. My pal Lisa Gangi from ELLE will be the hostess with the most-est, and I’ll be giving away the gift cards and thinking about how I’m not nearly hip enough to be around all these awesome people!
I’d love to see you. And to the organizers of this prestigious event…I’ll do my best not to embarrass anyone!
