It’s Ice Festival Weekend!

Leslie Harris here, and I never thought I’d say this, but I do wish the weather was a bit colder this weekend. It’s a weekend I look forward to every year, the Downers Grove Ice Festival.

I’m like a little kid when I watch these artists carve their magical sculptures out of blocks of ice, and fuse them together with hot irons.
I also love seeing the sculptures around town. This year close to 60 businesses will have pre-carved sculptures in front of their establishments. I’ll be looking forward to seeing a fox at the Foxtail restaurant, Yoda at Fair Game, Kung Fu Panda at the Tivoli Theater, a dog at the Happy Dog Barkery, and one of the annual favorites, the kissing booth in front of Rocco and Rocco Salon.
Demonstrations will be going on all three days, but this evening is probably going to be the best time, due to the weather. You’ll find the demonstrations this evening from 5:30 to 7:30 at the corner of Main and Curtiss, and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Main Street train station.
Most of the shops and restaurants will be open as well, and many of them will be having Ice Festival specials.
