It's Ice Festival Weekend - 95.9 The River

Hi, it’s Leslie Harris and this is one of my favorite weekends. It’s the annual Downers Grove Ice festival. There are dozens of sculptures throughout downtown Downers Grove, and each one has been expertly crafted by masterful sculptors. Many of the carvings include glitter, and one even incorporates popcorn!

You’ll see penguins, a dog, fish, a unicorn, a dinosaur and my favorite, a sunflower. Plus, there will be live ice carving demonstrations going on from 11:00 to 3:00 at the Main Street train station, both Saturday and Sunday.

The weather should be good for it as well, since our temps will warm up to the mid to upper 30s. Most if not all of the shops in downtown Downers Grove will also be open, and many will have specials.

The Downers Grove Ice Festival runs Saturday and Sunday, February 4th and 5th, all throughout the downtown area.
