Let’s Do the Time Warp Again!
Hey it’s Leslie Harris. When I was a teenager, my boyfriend and I would make the trek from the suburbs to the Biograph Theater on Lincoln avenue to see the midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. We brought toast, some playing cards, and learned all of the callbacks.
When my kids were in high school, they too watched the movie, and when they got to college, they got involved with the shadow cast in Normal, Illinois. One of them even played Brad in the shadow cast.
This past weekend, we all did The Time Warp again.
The same kiddo who played Brad, dressed up as Eddie this time, (played by Meatloaf in the movie) and even did pretty well in the costume contest. The photo is the back of the jacket that “Eddie” wore.
It was such a fun evening, and I’m glad I got to experience it all over again with my kids. Some of the callbacks have changed, and no one throws toast anymore, but we all got up and danced to The Time Warp.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is playing at The Music Box Theater in Chicago at 11:59 p.m., Friday October 27th through Tuesday October 31st. You could also stream it, but it’s so much more fun in a theater.
