Mercury is Retrograde – It’s Not All Bad!

Hi this is Leslie Harris, with words that strike fear into the hearts of many. Mercury turns retrograde at 2:59 Central time today.

Astronomically, what it means is that the planet Mercury looks like it’s backing up in our sky, from our perspective here on earth. Astrologically, the energies can affect us in big and small ways. Mercury turns retrograde 3-4 times a year, and typically stays there for about 3 weeks. You may have already started to feel it’s effects as it’s movement has been slowing for the last few days.

The planet Mercury rules things like communication, transportation and schedules, so those can be a challenge during this period. The good thing about a Mercury retrograde, is that it’s a time when we should take some extra time for inner reflection, because we may have the ability to have greater objectivity in certain areas of our lives.

We’re so busy and distracted that we sometimes forget to do take a good look at our lives, and see if it’s going in the direction that we really want. It’s time for a new vision, or maybe a revision.

Here are some things to do during a Mercury retrograde period:

Back up your computer, your phone and any other electronic device.

Look in the corners closet and nooks and crannies of your home for those wonderful items you may have forgotten about.

Double check all your schedules, especially when it comes to travel.

Tie up loose ends, and review the path your life is on, make revisions, and maybe even a new plan. That could include periods of reflection, meditation and prayer.

Things to avoid during the Mercury retrograde:

Last minute travel

Buying electronics and big ticket items

Starting a new job.

Final negotiations.

Some of these things can’t be avoided, but make sure that all of your Ts are crossed and all of your Is are dotted. Double check everything!

Mercury turns direct on September 15, 2023.
