Mr. Rogers Always Said, “Look For The Helpers”

Fred Rogers, also known as Mr. Rogers of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood once said, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

This is Leslie Harris, and one of the wonderful things about the quarantine is seeing how people are stepping up to help each other.

A lot of celebrities have stepped up and donated money to different causes. The latest one that I read about is actor/director Tyler Perry. He paid the grocery bill for senior citizens and high-risk customers at 44 Kroger locations in the Atlanta area. Kroger put out this statement: “We would like to join our customers and thanking Mr. Perry for his kindness and generosity during this unprecedented pandemic. It was truly a pleasure to see our customers filled with joy and gratitude as the news spread through 44 stores across Metro Atlanta.”

Tyler Perry also reportedly left a $21,000 tip for 40 restaurant servers that are out of work in an Atlanta restaurant, which works out to about $500 per person.
