Well here we are … the last night of the Music Challenge …(well the last night of the Sam James Music Challenge … I truly hope who ever ends up taking over the evening show continues with some fun music questions … If they do … be prepared to see me in the comments playing along!)   So do you remember the very first Music Challenge question?  It was question one of the 30 day Music Challenge (the inspiration for the current version of the Music Challenge.)  The question was “Name a song with a Color in the title. ”  I believe I went with New Order’s Blue Monday but that was a rather long time ago so I’m not 100% sure.

So here we are on what I guess could be described as  a blue Thursday.  It’s time to say goodbye, and as I have said countless times there is no better way to express how you are feeling than with a song.   Now do not let the title of the below song fool you.   I don’t know what Billie Joe Armstrong was writing about when he wrote this song …(I have heard it was about an ex-girlfriend and I have heard it was about his band going more commercial and leaving the club scene behind) For me, this song is about moving on, being happy about where you are moving on to but recognizing that you are leaving behind things you loved and so many happy memories.  Just check out the lyrics. This is not goodbye really … it’s just a fork in the road.

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test and don’t ask why
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right
I hope you had the time of your life
So take the photographs and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it’s worth it was worth all the while
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right
I hope you had the time of your life

I can’t thank you enough for joining me each night and contributing to the Music Challenge … without  you playing along there would be no Music Challenge.  I hope you had the time of your lives … I know I did.
