I love getting out in the community and doing live broadcasts! Meeting the people that spend their day listening to use is one of the true joys of the job. Most are gracious folks, thanking us for being there and telling us how they love The River. It’s great!

However, at least once during our two-hour appearances, I hear this (or some form of it):

“Hey, where’s Mitch!?”

Naturally, I don’t know where he is unless it’s between the hours of 3:00 and 7:00 on the weekdays.

I always try to come up with some sort of snarky answer, though.

“Yeah, he was supposed to be here, but he had an appointment to check out a retirement home.”

That’s what my new buddy Dave (pictured above) asked me during our broadcast from Will County Brewing Company on Saturday.

After a few minutes of talking, we decided to shoot a video yelling at Mitch for not being there (sounded like a good idea at the time). Unfortunately, my phone is junk and we mistakenly took still photographs, not a video (which, ironically, is a very Mitch thing to do!).

Even though it’s not a video, I think you get the idea…unless you’re Mitch, then you probably still have a flip phone.
