SIX Local Schools Still Vying for a State Football Title
What a weekend for our local high school football teams! Some couldn’t quite get over the hump, while others are having a magical season! How about those Porters!! Lockport is one game away from a state title game for the first time since they won the state title in 2013!
Joliet Catholic is just back to doing Joliet Catholic things. Unbeaten and rolling through the 4A playoffs. Richmond-Burton is likely the Hills’ next victim enroute to their 15th state football championship. If they can pull it off, it will be their first undefeated season since 2004.
In 3A, IC Catholic out of Elmhurst is looking for their sixth title in school history. All of those trophies have come in the last 20 years in spite of football records dating back to the 30s. Who can forget the three-peat in 2016-2018?!
In 2A, Wilmington (located just south of Joliet) is unbeaten and looking for their 2nd state championship. They accomplished the exact same feat back in 2014.
We dont’ have any local schools in 1A, but Lena-Winslow isn’t too far, so GO PANTHERS!
