Spring is Almost Here!

It’s Leslie Harris, and the spring equinox is today!

Today is the first day of spring, and it starts at 10:06 p.m. CDT. This means that we will roughly have equal amounts of daylight and darkness, and after today, the days will be longer than the nights!

Equinoxes are the only two times a year that the sun rises due east and sets due west for everyone on earth.

The equinox has been celebrated by many cultures for centuries, and people will still be gathering today at ancient sites such as Stonehenge in the UK, Chichén Itzá in Mexico, and in the temple in the Mnajdra complex on the island of Malta.

The spring/vernal equinox/ostara is a time for new beginnings, and letting go of the past. Many cultures deep clean their homes, get rid of clutter, and buy new clothes and fresh flowers.

Many associate The Equinox with fertility, creativity, and growth. It’s a wonderful time to let go of old patterns, resentments and that which no longer serves us, both spiritually and physically.

But it’s also the time to start something new. What have you been dreaming about starting? This is the time to do it!
