State of Sound Pop-Up to be Displayed at Navy Pier

You may remember months ago that the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum was home to a super cool exhibit called State of Sound: A World of Music from Illinois. This one-of-a-kind exhibit featured artists from Muddy Waters to REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick to Earth, Wind & Fire, Chance the Rapper, and more to properly showcase Illinois-based music’s importance in the general musical landscape.

Well, if you happened to miss the exhibit while it was down in Springfield, don’t fret! (ohhhh, little guitar joke there). There will be a pop-up version of the State of Sound exhibit at Navy Pier for a few months! It starts tomorrow (April 27) and runs through August 27th!

You can check out instruments and other pieces used or connected to some of the greatest musicians Illinois has to offer, and there may be more than you may think!

The exhibit is free to visit and located on the Lower-Level Lobby of Festival Hall A.

I’m really proud to say I was one of the first to broadcast live from their custom build throwback radio studio constructed as part of the exhibit!Photo: Nick Jakusz

As a matter of fact, if you have five hours to kill, you can listen to the entire show recorded live from the exhibit!
