Take Care of Those Pets This 4th!

Hey this is Leslie Harris. I hope you are having a relaxing 4th of July weekend.

As you may know, I’m a big animal lover, and a big animal advocate. Here are some tips you should be following this weekend, according to the ASPCA. (and remember to keep these in mind if you have cats who can leap to high counters)

Never leave alcoholic drinks unattended where pets can reach them as alcohol can be poisonous to pets.

Do not apply any sunscreen or insect repellent to your pet unless it is specifically labeled for pets, again since this can be poisonous.

Keep matches and lighter fluid while out of your pet’s reach.

Avoid giving your pets table scraps. Fatty foods can upset their digestion, and many foods are poisonous such as onions, chocolate, coffee, avocado, grapes, raisins and more.

Do not put glow jewelry on your pets as again it can upset their digestion if they bite it.

Keep citronella candles and other citronella products out of your pet’s reach.

Never use fireworks around your pets.

And remember, most pets do not like to be around loud crowds.
