Well…it’s one of my all time favorite movies. An easy #1 on my holiday movies list. While I don’t hate reboots as much as most people (no…it doesn’t RUIN the original. The original is still perfectly fine), I have to say, I’m a bit apprehensive.

The first trailer for “Home Sweet Home Alone” has been released and shows a 10 year old Max Mercer accidentally left behind as his family leaves for Tokyo for the Christmas holiday.

Parallel with the Home Alone franchise, Mercer finds himself defending his home (alone) against robbers, played by Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Rob Delaney. I LOVE the casting as Kemper as a robber. Her comedic style is perfect for that role.

You can tell right away they pay homage to the first Home Alone with similar dialogue, a McAallister as the police officer (Buzz is my guess), and other clear throwbacks to the original movie. I appreciate that.

The film also stars, Kenan Thompson, Tim Simons, Pete Holmes, and Ally Maki.

I also appreciate some of the casting! I am a big fan of Maki and her comedy style fits the role of the misfit home invaders.

I will give it it’s fair due and try not to judge it against the original because that’s just not fair.
