I’m not a big hockey guy, but I am a big sports guy. And the best thing about sports is how it can bring people together. Most of the time it’s fans rallying behind their favorite team, but occasionally you get a moment like this, when a star athlete and a little girl battling a serious disease become best friends.

That’s what happened with St. Louis player Colton Parayko and 11-year-old Leila Anderson – a huge blues fan. And that’s not just an honorary title! She was interviewed after the game and she speaks with a confidence that suggests she’s been following the game for a while!

My favorite part of this video isn’t what Parayko said about Leila or what Leila said about the team, but it’s the enthusiasm that Parayko expressed when he darted in for a hug from his favorite St. Louis superfan.

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

If this doesn’t melt your heart, then I’m not sure I want to be your friend!
