John Calhoun here on this last Sunday in October. Do you like chili? So do I.

Over the years I’ve experimented with a chili con carne recipe taken from a cookbook. Although I’m no gourmet, I can make a good bowl of chili.

Here are a few things I’ve discovered:

  • Beer tastes better than the liquid in canned beans.
  • Ground sirloin is superior to regular ground beef.
  • Ground turkey makes a fine substitute for beef.
  • Instead of tomato sauce, onions and garlic, using salsa saves preparation time and tastes great.

One last tip, if you’re making chili for Texans, leave out the beans!

Enjoy!
