Distracted Drivers: BEWARE!
Leslie Harris here. I have shared in the past that I have ADD, and I get distracted easily, especially by my phone. I’m not proud to admit, but I even get distracted while I’m behind the wheel.
I do limit my screen time to when I’m stopped at a traffic light or something like that, but I know I should not touch the phone at all. If you’re like me, or worse, and I know some of you are because I’ve seen you, you better think twice about picking up that phone while driving.
April is Distracted Driving Awareness month. Starting this month, the DuPage County Sheriff’s office is going to be cracking down on drivers who are using their phones. DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick stated, “Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of Motor vehicle crashes on our roads today. During distracted driving awareness month, law enforcement will boost enforcement efforts, stopping anyone we see texting and driving. We will do this to save lives. “
You can still use hands-free texting, or better yet, have someone else in the car send the texts for you.
What do you think about this crackdown? Should it extend beyond April? Will this affect your driving habits? Let us know your thoughts in the Facebook comments.
